I Am Forever Longing For Something More

Posted on November 1, 2019February 16, 2020 by Kirsten Barnhart

Daily, I long for a life I don’t feel like I have to escape from. I find myself constantly Googling, “How to make money from home.” It’s not that I don’t want to work, it’s that I want to work on my own terms, make money on the go, and spend time I’ll never get…

Remember To Put Your Dreams And Goals First – No One Else Will

This week Caesar gave me a scare with his health. Words like “cancer” and “kidney failure” were mentioned, and my mind immediately thought about my dog dying way before I was prepared. As the weekend neared, Caesar’s antibiotics began to really kick in and his health improved greatly. But as the fear of my dog…

Why Worry? The Art Of Being More Mindful

“Relax.” That’s something I’m not very good at. Over the weekend, I had a lot on my “To-Do List.” Do you ever have so much to do that you decide to do nothing at all because it’s all so overwhelming? That’s sorta how my weekend went. I kept putting things off and the next thing…

The Bond That Nature Creates

Posted on September 23, 2019February 16, 2020 by Kirsten Barnhart

Over the weekend Caesar and I took my mom on a day-trip to hike in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We decided to hike Brandywine into the Stanford House trail which is about five times from the car and back. This was my third time to CVNP and each time I’ve done this hike. There’s something…

Why My Dog Is My Best Friend

Posted on September 14, 2019February 16, 2020 by Kirsten Barnhart

I’ve been feeling down for the past few weeks. It’s hard to explain how you can feel both happy and sad at the same time, but that’s the battle I deal with sometimes. I think people who deal with this type of feeling expect the world to stop and listen to us or at least…

Dogs Are Therapists In Disguise

Posted on September 4, 2019February 16, 2020 by Kirsten Barnhart

Going to school full time while working a very demanding job is stressful. Honestly, that’s an understatement – it can be downright miserable, and being a high-anxiety person who shuts down when they are under stress doesn’t help. On top of that, I get super irritable when I miss Caesar and Jeter. Typically, the first…

Stopping To Smell The… Weird Patch In The Grass?!

Posted on August 24, 2019February 16, 2020 by Kirsten Barnhart

As Caesar gets older, he walks slower – it happens to all of us; it’s the laws of nature, I suppose. And like all of us, he has his really good days where we easily walk 4 miles in around an hour, but he also has his slooooow days where it’s a struggle to walk…

My Week-Long ‘Staycation’ And Why It Centered Around My Dogs

Posted on August 18, 2019April 14, 2023 by Kirsten Barnhart

I haven’t taken many week-long vacations in my life; actually, after this week is all said and done, I’ve taken exactly two – the first being last August to Portland, Oregon. I decided on a trip to Portland after reading a self-help book/memoir by influencer Conor Franta who described Portland as his “happy place.” At…

The adventure begins…

Posted on August 1, 2019February 16, 2020 by Kirsten Barnhart

Hello! As you can see this blog is very new but it’s been a long time coming. Long story short, my dogs are my best friends. I have two of them: Caesar and Jeter. For the most part, Caesar is my main travel buddy as Jeter can be dog aggressive and I don’t like to…

About

I am Kirsten and this is a space where I share the adventures I have with my dogs.

TPAR started as a blog about my life with Caesar and Jeter. It’s developed into a place where I can share hidden gems in local communities to take your dog, advice and tips I’ve learned along the way, and a space where sometimes I just get the things in my head out.

Since I began this blog, Jeter has passed and Gatsby has entered my life. Today, I continue to tell the stories of the dogs in my life. I hope you’ll find something useful here and grow to love taking your dogs on adventures too.
