Born April 2022, Gatsby is just over a year old and still very much a puppy. Gatsby is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever know and is very social–he has many friends!

After Jeter died in August 2022, I had told myself I would not get another dog. That is, until I saw Gatsby in the quarantine of the local shelter I volunteer for.

Gatsby has come into the shelter on Aug. 11–my birthday and the day that Jeter was cremated. He was seized in a drug bust and his owners hadn’t come for him. I knew when I looked at his little eyes that I needed this dog and he needed me. Plus, it was like the stars aligned to put us together.

Since we found each other, I have put a lot of work into Gatsby, though he makes it easy. He has earned several AKC titles including STAR Puppy, Basic Obedience, Canine Good Citizen Urban Dog, and Canine Good Citizen Community Dog. Gatsby is very submissive, making him the perfect playmate for grumpy, old Caesar. And although he is a bit smaller, he has a huge personality!

About

I am Kirsten and this is a space where I share the adventures I have with my dogs.

TPAR started as a blog about my life with Caesar and Jeter. It’s developed into a place where I can share hidden gems in local communities to take your dog, advice and tips I’ve learned along the way, and a space where sometimes I just get the things in my head out.

Since I began this blog, Jeter has passed and Gatsby has entered my life. Today, I continue to tell the stories of the dogs in my life. I hope you’ll find something useful here and grow to love taking your dogs on adventures too.
