Losing a dog takes a lot out of you. I haven’t written a post on this blog since last August—almost 7 months ago, and it’s not because I don’t have things to say. I have tons of updates! It’s just—this was the space that I created to share my stories of Caesar and Jeter. My slogan is literally “The adventures of one woman and her two dogs,” and while I still do have two dogs, I think of myself as having three—Caesar, Gatsby, and Jeter, who is no longer living, and losing the original of the “two dogs” part took its toll on me.
The idea of having to do an overhaul on this blog was daunting. So, I didn’t. I just let it sit until I was ready to deal with it. Without meaning to, I took a much-needed hiatus to drive my focus elsewhere, but I’m ready to be back here.
My first step is making a new post, and then another new one after that. My next will be doing the updates I need to do: rethinking how I do my pages—do I keep a page for each dog? Do I remove the section about Caesar and Jeter’s complicated relationship since it’s very much no longer complicated? I need to add a section for Gatsby. There’s a lot of work to be done.
So, I wan’t this brief post to serve as a turning point—to be the section where I can look back and say, “Oh yeah, that was the day I decided to give it another go.”
There will be a lot of updates here soon. Gatsby has been with me for almost 7 months now, he’s gotten several AKC titles, so I’ll have a post on that. Caesar is aging but has learned to play again; there will be a post on that. Easter is coming up and there are a lot of dog-related events around the holiday, so I’ll have a post on that too. There’s lots to look forward to on here, and I hope you’ll be back to read more.
